About us
Little & Loved Pet Cremations is a family owned independent pet crematorium specialising in individual pet cremations.
We are compassionate, caring, and will ensure your pets are treated with the utmost dignity and respect through all stages of their aftercare journey. At Little & Loved Cremations, we understand that your pet is a valued member of your family, and they deserve the best aftercare possible.Â
We are based just south of Oamaru, on the outskirts of the Hampden township. We offer pet collection as a part of our service.
Our Story
- Nic and Karly Carter -
We are a small family with a wee girl called Maddie and one pet dog named Ollie.
We are both animal lovers and understand the strong bond that can be shared between pets and human. They are such loyal family members so to have to say goodbye to them is absolutely heart-breaking. We believe that all animals deserve to be treated with the utmost dignity and respect.
The company came about as we met a NZ pet cremations operator from the north island and he told us about what he does for people. We saw the need for this in our area and looked into it. The north Otago and Otago region relied a lot on the Canterbury based operators for their cremations which meant people sometimes had to wait up to 6 weeks to get their animals back.
We believe it is such a special service to provide grieving pet owners with. We love animals and we love to help people so being able to assist with both in this difficult time is humbling.

Our Services
Here at Little & Loved Cremations, being able to provide an aftercare service while pet owners are grieving the loss of their loved fur friends is important to us.
You may wish to scatter your pets ashes in their favourite place(s), you may wish to have them on display, or tucked away at home so we are still together. We have the following options to cater to these different needs.

As pet owners ourselves, we realise what an important role pets play in our lives, and want them to be loved and respected to the very end of their life journey. We want to make sure beloved pets receive a peaceful farewell and offer grieving family members support during a difficult time.

HELP WITH GRIEVING
We understand that losing a cherished pet can be just as heart-breaking as losing a family member. Pets are great companions and bring such joy to our lives, so when we lose them, we are never quite prepared for the grief that is felt by the whole family.

What do I do when my pet passes away?
Little and loved cremations offer pet cremation services for your pet when they pass away. If this interests you, please phone us on 0272619973 and we can guide you through this process.
Is it only our pet’s ashes we get back, not others? Individual pet cremation ?
Yes – this is what we specialise in. Some cremation services offer what they call ‘individual’ cremations, however, please be aware that they may in fact be cremation alongside other animals. We only cremate one animal at a time – your pet will be cremated individually, without any other pets in the cremator hence you are guaranteed to get only your animals ashes back.
What do the ashes come back in?
We have scatter boxes, wooden caskets and metal urns to choose from and on special requests can look into jewellery options at one of our local jewellers.
Do you have a premises that I can visit?
Yes, please feel free to visit our premises but please do call ahead of time to arrange this.
